Located in Anne Arundel County in the beautiful state of Maryland, the town of Severn has been growing at a rapid rate over the last decade. A curious story of population growth, this small city has evolved from its status prior to 1980 as a small rural town to its current status as a town that is having some trouble dealing with its rapid rate of growth.

Located fifteen miles southeast of Baltimore City and twenty-eight miles northeast of Washington, D.C., this convenient access to both cities has led to its rapid population growth. People that enjoy working in these larger cities but would prefer to live in a smaller town has made Severn the popular spot that it is now. This is evident by the fact that there are no major retail sales outlets in Severn and most residents in the town do their shopping in nearby larger towns.

Due to its proximity to two of the country's biggest cities, Severn's real estate industry is absolutely booming. In the span of the six years between 1998 and 2004, Severn's property value rates has more than doubled.
