Brookline, Massachusetts is a small town just outside the Boston Area. Its roots go back to rural days when the land was alloted to farmers in the 1630's. The Muddy River Hamlet was settled as a convenient place to reside close to the farmland. The settlement received a township in 1705 as the town of Brookline, and has remained like this for over 300 years.

By the 1800's, Brooklined had transformed from a sleepy farming town to a busy suburban residential community for summer homes. Several historic estates still exist here today.

As a suburb of Boston, it is known for its large population of Russian emigrants and synagogues. Jewish culture is dominant along Harvard Street. Kupel's Bagels, a Glatt-Kosher-certified bakery, is considered to have the best bagels in the entire Boston Area.

The town is known for having super schooling, though it also boasts one of the highest property tax burdens in all of America.
