With a cute name like Peabody, how could you possibly go wrong? This city of 50,000 is located just on the fringe of the highway ring surrounding the Greater Boston Metropolitan Area. It is then, by definition, a suburb, but it's a very economically advanced one to boot.

Just 18 miles north of Boston at the intersection of major routes like Route 128, Route 1, and the ubiquitous I-95, the City of Peabody is 'a city that works' in all meanings of the phrase. Resdients share an uncanny sense of civic pride in their vibrant and diverse community. But perhaps it's the city's economic success that puts smiles on everyone's faces.

You see, for as long as anyone can remember, Peabody has been a major regional employment center for the 'North Shore'. Starting with major leather-manufacturers (there were some 100 tanneries at one point in time) to today's high-tech Centennial Industrial Park, business has been good for Peabody. Factor in that the North Shore Mall recently received a major facelift, and the downtown core got one as well, and it's no wonder that all eyes along the North Shore are firmly focused on Peabody.
