Allen, Michigan

Allen is famous for its pleasant rolling green hills and valleys that surrounded. Following the Civil War, agriculture, including corn, hay, soybeans, cows, poultry and hog-farming, gave the area a stable economic base, and the area grew.

Today, that economic base continues to diversify, by the addition of extensive manufacturing. Allen also has ample outdoor recreational opportunities. The Hillsdale county where Allen is located has over a hundred inland lakes, and containing the headwaters of the Grand, St. Joseph, Kalamazoo, Raisin and Maumee Rivers. The county is also the home to Hillsdale College, circa 1845, the first college to admit women in Michigan.

Allen fits so well here because it is so peaceful and so American in its existence with family-oriented community and heritage that its residents can be truly proud of!
