There are three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school here. For higher education, Grand Rapids is home to Aquinas College, Calvin College, and Grand Rapids Community College. Grand Valley State University is commutable 20 miles away in the City of Allendale.

For recreation, East Grand Rapids is home to three spacious parks equipped with sporting facilities: Remington Park, Manhattan Park, and John A. Collins Park.
