The City of Kentwood is a vitally active and growing city. A report issued by the United States Census Bureau named Kentwood the fastest growing city in the West Michigan and placed it in the top five in the state.

There is reason for this growth. Kentwood has beautiful homes, good schools, churches and businesses. There is a good mix of residential structures and areas, the location is convenient to work, shopping and recreational activities. There are good parks, good roads, a clean and varied thriving industrial and commercial base and low unemployment. In addition to these attributes, the City tax rate is the lowest in the state for a city over 20,000 in population.

However, a city is not simply comprised of buildings, roads and parks. It is made up of people. While we certainly face the challenges of growth and change, when I consider the people of Kentwood, I believe the state of the City of Kentwood is good. The generosity and community support exhibited by the people of Kentwood is one reason our City is doing well.
