When I was 14 years old, I had the chance to play in a soccer tournament in Midland, Michigan – we lost the final game to Midland by a score of 4-3, but I scored all three goals. My memories of this town are bittersweet. But don’t let my personal bias sway you. Midland is a bustling community built on strong leadership and dedicated residents. It is a town that will make you swell with pride if you choose to live there.

The features of Midland have experienced interesting initiatives in economic development during the past ten years. An emphasis on the revitalization of Downtown Midland has resulted in the construction of a new City Hall, a four-story County Administration Building, a three-story office building and parking ramp, and a building renovation for the United Way and its agencies. Additionally, a 150-apartment senior citizen complex and a 144-room hotel and conference center has added to and enhanced the development and growth of the downtown area.

Midland has constructed a regional shopping mall. The Midland Mall features four anchor stores complemented by more than 60 specialty and name-brand shops. Many retail stores, hotels, restaurants and entertainment facilities have located in the mall area, helping to bring a full range of shopping, dining and leisure opportunities to area residents and visitors.
