Rochester Real Estate Information Rochester Hills is a young suburb city that is a short drive to the north from Detroit. Founded in 1984 as a Home Rule City in the Avon Charter Township, it's now home to about 70,000 people. Many residents work in the Greater Detroit Area but enjoy a quieter small-town life.
The community is well looked after, with a Master Land Use Plan in effect for quality city growth. There are many types of homes available here, with some of the older neighborhoods being upgraded with proper drainage, water, and sewer services.
Important industries for the city are computer technology, electronics research, R&D, manufacturing, plastics, precision machining, engineering, warehousing and distribution. As you can see, Rochester Hills has a very advanced industrial sector. In combination with the various technical jobs in the Detroit area, there's no shortage of skilled labor in demand!
For recreation, there's tennis, golf, swimming, boating, bicycling, fishing, skiing, and jogging all located in municipally funded parks. A number of historic farms, halls, and mills can be visited year round.
City services include five fire stations, police on contract with Oakland county, and a full service 300 bed hospital.
