Just an hour's drive from big cities like Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Grand Rapids, the City of Saginaw is one of Michigan's hidden gems. The population of 62,000 people has easy access to the Saginaw Bay/Lake Huron recreational area, and the Saginaw River even runs straight through the town. As you can see, nature is in abundance throughout the city.

Saginaw boasts a diverse cultural mix, with almsot half of the population of African heritage. The city is full of great neighborhoods, a strong manufacturing industry, recreation, and a renewed downtown district.

Among the things to see and do in Saginaw is Saginaw's scenic riverfront. Recently the city has embarked on a new revitalization program to add docks, fishing, and pedestrian facilities on both sides of the river.

The community also enjoys a rich arts and cultural life, with a number of museums, cultural centers, theatres, and meeting places available to every local resident.

For the kids, there's the Wickes Playground that was designed with the help of local kids. It's jam-packed with climbing activities, a hill, race-track for tricycles, and many benches. The playground received an Achievement Award by the Michigan Municipal League in 1998.
