West Bloomfield Michigan has a very interesting side to it. And it involves geese. Every year millions of geese travel over West Bloomfield on their way from Canada to the sunny south. The local populace often views this migration with a mix of amazement and frustration.

While it is fun to gaze up at the afternoon sky and see hundreds of geese flying in almost perfect V’s on their genetically programmed course to greener pastures, the geese also stop sometimes and make the pastures of West Bloomfield a little less green.

Sure the geese need to eat but the wave of destruction they leave behind them is almost comical. They eat just about everything in their path and they defecate on people’s cars and on their homes. It’s almost like a WWII style aerial bombardment.

If you are having trouble with the geese the city will intervene and send staff out there to deal with the problem, but most people just take it in stride.
