Real Estate Wyandotte - MI
Wyandotte Real Estate Information

Located in Wayne County, Wyandotte has the distinction of being one of Michigan's oldest cities. Situated on the Detroit River and bounded by the cities of Southgate, Riverview, Ecorse, Wyandotte has long had a reputation as one of the best cities to live in the Wolverine State. According to the 2000 census, Wyandotte is home to 28,006 residents.

The city of Wyandotte can trace its history all the way back to the early 1730s when a remnant tribe of Huron Indians settled on the banks of the Detroit River. The name of this tribe was the Wendot or Wyandot Indians and they settled in this area for almost a century. However, in 1818, the Wyandot Indians signed a treaty that relinquished this land to the American government. From there, modern Wyandotte would grow.

Much like other cities in Michigan, Wyandotte quickly gained a reputation as a major industrial center. Shipbuilding was an important industry in Wyandotte and the city also has the distinction of being the home of the first steel plant to use the Bessemer process in the United States. However, over the years, Wyandotte has made the transition from being an industrial town to a residential one.

The people of Wyandotte love the small town charm of their city and are renowned throughout Michigan for their friendliness. With its excellent schools and convient location near some of Michigan's biggest cities, it's easy to see why Wyandotte is a great place to live.
