Siutated on Ford Lake, about 7 miles southeast of Ann Arbor, is the City of Ypsilanti, located in Washtenaw County in the state of Michigan. The city is located in the northern portion of Ypsilanti Township, though it is politically independent. The city is named for the great Greek patriot, General Demetrius Ypsilanti, a hero in the Greek war for independence. Ypsilanti's population is approximately 23,000 people.

Ypsilanti has had a booming economy eversince Henry Ford and the automotive industry came here in the 1930's and beautiful Ford Lake was created to generate hydroelectric power for the manufacturing plants. During World War II, Ypsilanti became home to the Willow Run Bomber Plant, a factory which would employ 100,000 workers. The city continues to boom as job-seekers pour in from all over the country.

Ypsilanti is one of the best locations to seek higher education. It is home to Eastern Michigan University, the fifth largest university in Michigan. Just a few miles away in Ann Arbor, is the University of Michigan, the largest university in Michigan, and considered one of the finest public institutions in the nation. Also at Ann Arbor is Concordia University, Washtenaw Community College, the Ave Maria School of Law, and the Cleary College of Business.
