Siutated on the south bank of a wide bend in the Minnesota River in the southwest corner of the Greater Twin Cities Metropolitan Area, is the City of Shakopee. Located about 23 miles from Minneapolis and 30 miles from St. Paul, Shakopee is the county seat for Scott County. The city has a population of approximately 22,000 people.

Known as the playground for the Twin Cities area, the city receives about 4 million visitors who visit Shakopee's many attractions, and thus fuels a thriving tourism and hospitality industries. Shakopee boast many world-class attractions such as the 90-acre Valley Fair Amusement Park, Mystic Lake Casino, Dakota Country Casino, Canterbury Race Park, Murphy’s Landing, the Renaissance Festival and Raceway Park. Outdoor recreational activities are abundant at the splendid Minnesota River Valley Regional Park.

The Shakopee Public Schools are one of the most progessive in the state. The school system aims to provide each student with the technology skills he or she needs to learn successfully - every classroom has internet access as well as advanced computer classes for web page design. There are three elementary schools, a junior high school, and a high school. An extensive community education program is available for all residents.
