As the second largest city in perhaps the country's most notorious state, Reno, Nevada is definitely one of the most interesting cities to live in America. Home to over 180,000 residents, Reno is the county seat of Washoe County in the Silver State. Conveniently located north of Carson City, the state capital, and northeast of Lake Tahoe in the high desert, Reno also shares an eastern border with the city of Sparks.

A contrast to the high glamour and glitz of Las Vegas, Reno is affectionately known as The Biggest Little City in the World. Buoyed by the gold, divorce, and gambling booms that were vital to the development of the entire state, Reno is best known for its excellent casinos.

Although Reno is the birthplace of the gambling corporation Harrah's, it is also home to the state's oldest university: University of Nevado, Reno. Reno is also the home of the annual Reno Air Races, one of the city's most popular traditions that began in 1964.

Despite its large urban infrastructure that supports the city's main revenue as a gambling town, Reno is also considered one of the best cities to live in all of Nevada. Combining some of the finest shopping centers and clubs in the state with a friendly attitude that you would expect from the Biggest Little City in the World, Reno is viewed as one of the most normal cities in the Silver State.
