What do Meryl Streep, Danny Devito , and noted censor Anthony Comstock have in common? Besides being involved in one way or another in artistic endeavors, the three have also lived at some point of their lives in the beautiful New Jersey community of Summit.

Purchased by colonist from Native Americans in 1664 for "twenty fathoms of trading cloth, two made coats, two guns, two kettles, ten bars of lead and twenty handfuls of powder," Summit is a charming residential community located in hsitoric Union County. One of the most affluent cities in the Garden State, Summit had a total population of 21,131 at the time of the 2000 census.

Originally a farming community, Summit has evolved into one of the most progressive and comfortable cities to live in Eastern America. Wherever you walk in Summit, you'll notice the large number of trees within the city. Considering its location nestled in the hills of the Watchung Reservation, it's easy to see why many view Summit as one of the most beautiful cities in the Garden State.

The first city to bury utility wires underground (which they did in 1925), Summit is always looking for ways to increase its already high quality of life. A city blessed with an exceptional school system in which 92% of high school graduates pursue higher learning, recently Summit has commited a large number of funds to turning its beautiful downtown area to a state of the art downtown.
