Do you like bats? You do! Then you’ll love Carlsbad New Mexico. This wonderful New Mexico town has a lot to offer, but if you ask most of the people who travel there, they’ll say they’re there for one reason. The bats.

Carlsbad is home to one of the largest bat sanctuaries in the world. The deep dark network of caves and crevasses serves as a hotel for thousands of that states bats. Everyday, they congregate there to sleep off the previous nights binge of mosquitoes and flies, as they wait for night to fall again.

You to can witness this natural phenomenon. There are guided tours through the caves every day and folks are always amazed at what they see. Most people remark that it almost seems as if the walls and ceiling are alive as the bats, tightly packed, squirm and jockey for position.

The floor of the cave is also something quite remarkable. The bats ‘go to the bathroom’ all over the cave floor and this has transformed the floor into rolling dunes of knee deep bat feces. And lurking in that bat feces are million for small insects that prey on any bat unlucky enough to lose their footing and fall to the ground. An army of multi-limbed predators almost instantly consumes these unlucky bats.

So if all of these creep things aren’t enough to entice you to invest in Carlsbad, then I don’t think you have any imagination.
