Albany Real Estate Information Without question Albany is one of the most important cities in a state that has its fair share of important cities. Many years ago, after Clinton built what was known as Clinton big ditch (the Erie Canal) the city and the area around it exploded. Soon upstate New York was one of the most prosperous places in all of the United States. So prosperous in fact that Albany was named the capital of the State of New York.
Well, things have changed a little bit for upstate. Long gone are many of the factories that once provided employment for so many residents. The luster of this area is gone. But three things remain. Firstly, Albany is still the capital of New York and no matter how important Manhattan is, this will always be.
Secondly, the buildings that were built as civic monuments to the state government still exist and they are glorious reminders of time when the world was smaller and Albany was bigger.
Lastly, the city slowly had been losing population. This means that there are hundreds of properties up for grabs and just sitting there waiting to be restored. This may seem like a bad investment, but over time, the city will realize its place as civic hub and not an industrial center, this change will make downtown buildings more valuable.
