Located in New York state, Long Island has always been considered far less cultured than its New York City neighbors. However, Long Island is full of excellent towns that are renowned for their livability. A state that seems to have limitless opportunities to further develop and expand, many believe that the towns of Long Island are ripe for rapid rejuvenation and expansion.

One such place that many believe will rapidly develop over the next decade is the hamlet of Bay Shore. Located in the town of Islip in Suffolk County, Bay Shore is an area that is redefining itself. Formerly a major shopping area, Bay Shore has recently ran into troubles after the construction of the large South Shore Mall in nearby North Bay Shore.

A town of just under 24,000 residents, Bay Shore already has infrastructure in place that makes it a prime candidate for rapid revitilization. Home to a major railroad station that serves both commuters and vacationers that want to visit the tourist haven of Fire Island, Bay Shore is currently rejuvinating portions of its housing.

Rundown housing near the railroad is being replaced by townhouses that will appeal to residents that are attracted to affordable housing. A growing artistic community is developing in this area. Meanwhile, for more affluent homebuyers, the area south of Main Street is renowned for its safe neighborhoods and gorgeous houses that includes many of New York's finest mansions.
