Real Estate Briarcliff Manor - NY
Briarcliff Manor Real Estate Information

Nestled along the eastern banks of the impressive Hudsons River in southern New York's Westchester County in the scenic Hudson River Valley is the Village of Briarcliff Manor. New York City is 40 miles south along the river.

Long been one of New York's most affluent communities, Briarcliff Manor has had an interesting history. The area was once part of a massive parcel of land owned by Frederick Philipse, an English aristocrat. However after the American Revolution, the Philipse were forced to give up the land. It wasn't until the 1890's that the area was purchased by prominent businessman Walter Law who originally called the area Briarcliff Farms. With Law residing here for most of his time, his friend Andrew Carnegie dubbed him the "Laird of Briarcliff Manor", and by the 20th century the Village of Briarcliff Manor stuck.

Today, Briarcliff Manor is within the town boundaries of Mount Pleasant and Ossining. The population of this village is approximately 7,700 people. The community is home to some of New York's elite, if the median house price of $600,000 is any indication. This has undoubtedly contributed to Briarcliff Manor's exceptional school district, which is one of the best in the state that has generated numerous awards for academic excellence. Also a campus of Pace University can be found here.
