It was here in Seneca Falls 1848 that Elizabeth Cady Stanton organized the first women's rights convention where she boldly proclaimed that men and women were equals and demanding their right to vote. Although they were met with much backlash, the movement would continue to pick up steam until this present day. Today, the Mayor of Seneca Falls is the first female mayor of this community - Diana M. Smith.
Seneca Falls is located in upstate New York and is the Gateway to the Finger Lakes, one of the most visited regions in the entire state. Seneca Falls is classified as a town, in which the Village of Seneca Falls is a part of in Seneca County. The community is situated near the northern shores of Cayuga Lake along US Route 20.
