Washington Real Estate Information Washington is a small town of 13,500 located in south-central Ohio roughly between Springfield and Columbus. A large portion of residents work in the manufacturing industry located in and around the town.
The community is largely rural with a number of farming operations in the outlying regions and many industrial operations within the town limits. A quarter of all people are employed by manufacturing. Not that many people commute to Springfield or Columbus to work as it's a fairly long drive to get to either city.
The region is surrounded by sparse settlements and a lot of wilderness. Three different State Routes cross through Washington and connect the city to Dayton, Columbus, and Cincinnati. Aside from the nearby Deer Creek State Park (about 10 miles to the east) there isn't a whole lot to do in Washington.
The official name of Washington City is Washington Court House, which in turn is abbreviated Washington CH. The origins of the name are unknown but may be related to George Washington like the dozens of other cities named in his honor.
IF you plan to move away from the city and enjoy the great outdoors, Washington Courthouse is a great place to settle down and live a peaceful life.
