Shawnee, Ohio

Shawnee is one of the most unique places in America. It is actually a village with small population of 600, located in Perry County. Like most cities in Ohio, Shawnee goes through distinctive four seasons with beautiful, red and orange fall, luscious green spring and gentle summer that sometimes extends into Indian Summer.

Originally a diamond minning community, Shawnee used to be prosperous and buzzing city with many salons and stores, a picturesque Western town as if cut out from a movie about Wild West. After its diamond glory some of Shawnee people moved out and left behind their beloved village. Today Shawnee is often regarded as a valuable historical city, with wonderful architecture and lots of stories that locals pass onto many tourists who love to visit and take photographs of the old-fashioned streets and house fronts.

Despite the fact that the population of Shawnee is small, the community is strong and people here are always friendly and welcoming toward new residents.
