Albany, Oregon

Albany is now an important manufacturing center for the rare metals, food processing, timber and seed industries. Despite its thriving growth has never forgotten its Victorian days - its beginning as a thriving and prosperous river town. When Highway 99 and I-5 were constructed, Albany's older commercial and residential areas were bypassed, and now Albany is home to Oregon's largest group of past architectural styles, including every major style popular in the U.S. since 1850.

The Monteith, Hackleman and Downtown Commercial Historic Districts have 350 historic homes. There are 29 municipal parks some with sports fields, playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts and riverfront bike paths. Private and non-profit facilities offering golf; swimming; tennis, racquetball and basketball courts; and other health club facilities. Wide range of performing and visual arts are also a part of Albany's culture.
