Dallas, Oregon is a sedate community, only minutes away from Salem and just an hour or so from the bright lights of Portland. This town of 15,000 is positively a sleeping giant when it comes to looking at what it has to offer. Nestled in a quaint valley at the foot of the Coast Mountain Range, Dallas, Oregon is surrounded by the natural beauty of rolling hills and forest trees; but you would expect this from a town that is only two miles from the 2,492 acre Baskett Slough National Wildlife Refuge ; home to nearly 200 different types of animal.

Like most towns that are close to a major city Dallas, Oregon is allowed the freedom to express itself individually and focus on fostering a community spirit whilst letting the bigger cities focus on many of the amenities that we take for granted in today’s world. The annual summerfest festival is a weekend of revelry that is almost untouched anywhere else in Polk County and precedes Dallas’s annual summer-long concert series.

As with any good community town recreation is at the heart of Dallas, Oregon and there are many activities for the young and not-so-young to enjoy, ranging from swimming at the aquatics center to skateboarding in the purpose built skateboarding facility. Throw in the fact that the Dallas City Recreation Program offers a wide variety of classes and activities for residents and you won’t fail to see that this town is run for the benefit of its residents.
