The industrious little City of Duquesne is situated on the western banks of the Monongahela River in the Greater Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area. Part of assiduous Allegheny County in southwestern Pennsylvania, Duquesne houses an estimated population numbering 7,500 people.

Although many people think that this city is logically the home of Duquesne University, that is not the case. Duquesne University is found within the City of Pittsburgh about 13 miles northwest from here. Rather, Duquesne is names after Fort Duquesne, which was named after the former Governor General of Canada, the Marquis Duquesne de Menneville.

Duquesne has long been a steel production and manufacturing city that was a key peice of the steel giant that is the City of Pittsburgh. However, over the years steel production activites have subsided here just like the rest of the Pittsburgh metro area. Today, most of the residents of Duquesne make the daily commute in Pittsburgh for greater business and employment opportunities.
