Situated on the banks of the Beaver River near McConnells Mill State Park, the City of New Castle is the county seat for Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. It is located about 40 miles north of Pittsburgh, and has a population of approximately 29,000 people.

New Castle has a rich industrial history. At the turn of the 20th century, New Castle was one of the most prosperous cities in America, being the Tin Plate Capital of the World. Although the depression dampened industry, the city has been transformed from its primary reliance on industry to a well balanced economic base comprised of manufacturing, retail and service related business establishments.

New Castle has numerous parks within its boundaries that host many recreational activities. Golf enthusiasts enjoy the five golf courses in and around the city. The New Castle Playhouse and the New Castle Parou Ballet Company provides cultural stimulation for its residents.
