State College is a borough located in Centre County, Pennsylvania. With a population of almost 40,000 people, State College is most known for being home to one of the nation's largest and most reputable university, Pennsylvania State University, commonly known as Penn State.

Considered a college town in every sense of the word, the economy is greatly influenced by Penn State -the largest employers of the area. State College was created as a town to serve the needs of the fledgling Pennsylvania State Farmers' High School, founded in 1855. Since then, the school has grown into the Pennsylvania State College, and in 1959, the Pennsylvania State University.
