Baseball is America’s national pastime. You can pretty much go to any warm weather community in the country and find people playing it. And if you were to survey the country during the summer you can find just about everybody outside playing this great game. One of the main reasons for this is the great investment that this small community has made in its public parks. City officials know that the key for community unity is to get people out and hanging out with each other with a common purpose…to watch sports.

As a result, there have been many great baseball prospects to come out of this city in recent years. It also helps that folks from other near-by communities drive there children all the way to Tamaqua just to play at their great diamonds. You’d be amazed at the buzz in the air all year as children play and parents watch and everybody is having a good time.

It is this kind of attitude that has produced an unusual phenomenon here in Tamaqua. When children grow up they do not automatically flee the community, as is the case in many of America’s small towns. No, instead young people stay here and start their own lives, thus making the community as strong a place as it can be.
