The City of York is the county seat of York County, Pennsylvania. For nine months during the dark days of the Revolution, York was the capital of the 13 colonies, when Congress fled from Philadelphia.

York was the birthplace of the Articles of Confederation; they were adopted in the Colonial Court House and an exact replica was dedicated in 1976.
