During that year, railroad officials were hatching a plan to connect the major cities of Charlotte, North Carolina with Atlanta, Georgia. Three sites had been chosen to reside as stops between these routs and one of these stops was Pickensville, South Carolina. However, General William King Easley, a prominent railroad attorney, drew up a route that was one mile north of Pickensville. This route was chosen and this stop became Easley Station. Three decades later, Easley became incorporated as a town and is now a thriving city within South Carolina.
