The community of Colonial Heights is located in a beautiful part of the "Volunteer State" of Tennessee. In the northeastern portion of the state in Sullivan County, Colonial Heights is found just of the Interstate Highway 81 and is centered between the cities of Kingsport, Bristol, and Johnson City.

What makes Colonial Heights such a beautiful little community is that it rests along the foothills of the mighty Appalachian Mountains in close proximity to the 950-acre Warrior Path State Park, which acts as the community's eastern boundary. This park was named for its history, as it was the site of an ancient war and trading post of Native Americans from the Cherokee Nation.

Colonial Heights is classified as a census-designated community, and many locals consider it to be a southern suburb of the City of Kingsport, which is 5 miles to the north. Children of Colonial Heights are part of the academically outstanding Kingsport School District, and higher education is available nearby at Northeast State Technical Community College in Blountville and East Tennessee State University in Johnson City.
