Irving, Texas was founded by J.O. Schulze and Otis Brown in 1903, after they had surveyed a railroad route between Fort Worth and Dallas. They purchased a large amount of land believing it would be an ideal site for a town. The town progressed rapidly as it became the center for cotton growing, truck farming, dairy farming, and poultry production during the early 20th century, and later becoming an important player in Texas' burgeoing oil industy.

Irving contains the Mustangs at Las Colinas, the largest equestrian sculpture in the world. It is also the headquarters of ExxonMobil and the Boy Scouts of America. Irving also houses Texas Stadium, home to the Dallas Cowboys.

Other attractions of Irving include the Mandalay Canal, Twin Wells Golf Course, Texas Greenbelt Trinity River Trail, and the National Scouting Museum
