Located within the largest state of the country, Lubbock has managed to carve its own niche within Texas. The state's eleventh largest city, Lubbock is the home to over 200,000 residents.

Located within northwest Texas, Lubbock is found on the vast plateau known as the Llano Estacado. Founded in 1876 and named after the famed Texas ranger, Thomas S. Lubbock, this city has developed into an economic engine. Considered the economic hub of a multi-county agricultural region known as the South Plains, Lubbock is one of the wealthiest areas of Texas. Often referred to as Hub City, Lubbock is one of the largest cotton-growing regions in the entire world.

However, Lubbock is not simply wealthy economically but culturally. The birthplace of music legend, Buddy Holly, Lubbock is also a major contributor to what can only be described as Texas culture. The host to the annual National Cowboy Symposium and Celebration, Lubbock is also the home of the National Ranching Heritage Center. In addition to this, Lubbock is also a major center of country music and is the birthplace to such legends as: Waylon Jennings, the Flatlanders, and Natalie Maines from the Dixie Chicks.
