Pflugerville Real Estate Information Glad to see you’re interested in real estate in the great city of Pflugerville (pronounced “floo”-“grrr”-“ville”)! You’ll fall in love with this historic and picturesque city, its sevice and of course, the people who live here!
The Pflugerville area, situated about fifteen miles north of Downtown Austin, was settled in the mid-19th century by German immigrants. The city was incorporated in 1965.
For the first 20 years in the life of the young city, Pflugerville experienced low to moderate growth. Suburban Austin growth in the mid-eighties caused a building boom in Pflugerville. Today, Pflugerville is a community of more than 25,000 residents who have made it home for their families.
In 1910, black workers who worked in the Pflugerville cotton industry and ice factory were not allowed to move into the town. La Rue Norton, a farmer who owned 1,200 acres of land west of Pflugerville, set aside an acre and sold lots to the workers at fifty dollars each. In April 1910, the settlement was placed in the county records as Pflugerville's Colored Addition. The original settlers of the Colored Addition were Pete McDade, George Caldwell, Will Smith, Ned Tyson, Willie Allen, and their families.
Today, Plugerville is a diverse and eclectic community who look out for each other and support one another in all aspects of daily life. So come join the warm community of Plugerville and see for yourself what this fine town can offer you!
