People often ask, "What's with the city's name?". The answer is quite straightforward and logical. The area was originally settled by seven villages of Indigenous Native Americans. Back in the late 19th century, white pioneers moved in and established a settlement. To avoid confusion, the pioneers named the settlement "White Settlement" to distinguish themselves from the Native American settlement. The name stuck and became incorporated in 1941. Today, the City of White Settlement boast a demographic that is 85% white.
