A friend of mine back home used to joke that he wished that the United States would trade Vermont to Canada for one of their provinces. I guess he felt that the people living in Vermont weren’t quite like the other people who lived in the United States and may have been more a like their neighbors to the north. Well, if you ask anyone on Chester Vermont that question they’ll tell you that they are as American as anyone else in the country and Vermont simply is a different kind of America.

What different kind of America is this. Well in Chester, people still watch the Super Bowl, they still go hunting, they are farmers and they have excellent families that mean a lot to them. So far…they seem pretty American to me. People in Chester also have great homes that they have purchased at a decent price thanks to the very good rela estate market here in Vermont. In fact if you look at the average home of someone living in Vermont it is a little nicer than the houses you’ll find elsewhere in the country.

But still this isn’t it. Why do Vermonters feel a little different than other American and why do other Americans see people, who live in cities like Chester as a little different from them? Well the answer is simple. People in Vermont don’t really like NASCAR. This may seem sacrilegious to some, but NASCAR gets barely a mention in circles here.
