Charlottesville Real Estate Information Charlottesville is an indpendent city in the State of Virginia. It's population is currently over 45,000 people. The town is situated on the Rivanna River, which is a tributary of the James River. The nearby Southwest Mountains and Blue Ridge offer a wonderful backdrop to this gorgeous natural city.
The city was formed a long time ago in 1762 along a trade route that was known as the Three Notched Road leading from Richmond to the Great Valley. Nowadays, many important traffic routes pass through Charlottesville. The US 250, US 29, and I-64 all pass through the vicinity.
An attraction of note in this city is Monticello, which was the plantation manor of Thomas Jefferson. In addition, the University of Virginia (designed by Thomas Jefferson himself) is based here. Famous literary giants like Edgar Allen Poe, William Faulkner, and Willam McGuffey (who wrote the first textbook in the country) all attended the university.
The city enjoys a wonderful landscape filled with many historic buildings. It was rated as "The Best Place to Live in the United States" by the book "Cities Ranked and Rated" by Sperling and Sander. They rated every city in the States based on cost of living, climate, and quality of life.
