An interesting fact that is not known to many people is that the County of Fairfax, in the state of Virginia, has more people living in it than seven of the fifty two states in the US. With a population of almost one million people, spread over just 400 square miles, Fairfax County, Virginia is the most populated county in the state.

Part of the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area, Fairfax County, Virginia is split into nine supervisor districts: Braddock, Dranesville, Hunter Mill, Lee, Mason, Mount Vernon, Providence, Springfield, and Sully. Its proximity to Washington D.C makes the County a great place to live for commuters to the Capital and surrounding area. Named after Thomas Fairfax, and formed in the early 1700’s from part of Prince William County, Fairfax County is bordered to the North by the beautiful Potomac River.

An economic workforce that is mainly employed in the scientific, professional, management and public domains, Fairfax County, Virginia has an average income per household of over $81,000; this figure is way above the Country average.

Various attractions draw tourists to Fairfax County each year and some of the more interesting attractions include the National Air and Space Museum, the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens and Wolf Trap; this is the only national park for the performing arts.
