You can find Stafford County in the Northern part of the state of Virginia, a mere 40 miles south of the Nation’s capitol of Washington D.C. Named after the English county of Staffordshire, Stafford County, Virginia has a rich history, especially during the colonial era and the subsequent independence movement; the boyhood home of George Washington is near the Rappahannock River.

Boasting a population of over 100,000 people, spread out over 277 square miles, Stafford County, Virginia is a mainly rural county, although the Northern part is more urbanized and growing at a faster rate than the south. With over 600 subdivisions the largest town is Aquia Harbour, with a population of 6,500. Its proximity to Washington has allowed Stafford County to attract commuters from the Capitol as well as further away, and is one of the main reasons for the recent growth in its population.

Natural scenery is abound in this part of the Country with the Potomac River and other similar wonders of nature attracting tourists and providing Stafford County residents with excellent weekend vacations. Employment opportunities are diverse in the county with jobs in manufacturing, education, construction and retail being the most common; unemployment in Stafford County, Virginia is one of the lowest in the state.
