Located in King County, Washington, the City of Auburn is situated between Seattle and Tacoma in the Green River Valley. Originally named Slaughter, after Lt. William A. Slaughter, residents didn't like the negative connotations of this name, so in 1893 it was renamed after Auburn, New York.
