Lakewood Real Estate Information Lakewood
Lakewood officially became a city on February 28th, 1996, making it the eighth largest city in the state of Washington. It was originally called the Prairie because of its expanse of land about 20 miles square. This land is dotted with small lakes and occasional stands of oak and Douglas fir trees.
Today Lakewood is a rapidly developing city with wonderful downtown and lots of cultural and artistic events geared at its community. People here are friendly and happy and always, always welcoming.
If you're looking for nature you can still find the city's countless lakes, enjoy the shading streets, feel the exuberance of activity as citizens continue to enhance Lakewood. And on a warm summer evening, you might hear echoes of the joyous celebrations of Indians and early settlers camping out on The Prairie.
