The city of Beloit is located in Rock County, Wisconsin, situated on the Rock River, midway along the Wisconsin/Illinois border - the city is known as the Gateway to Wisconsin. The city arised out of a mass exodus of a small New Hampshire town in 1837 who arived to this site named the community Beloit.

In an effort to maintain standards of eastern education, the settlers founded Beloit Seminary, today Beloit College, a few years later. Beloit College is an internationally-acclaimed liberal arts institute. The campus boasts Logan Museum of Anthropology, Wright Museum of Art, and 22 prehistoric Indian mounds.
