Real Estate Lander - WY
Lander Real Estate Information

At the base of the beautiful Wind River Mountains near the winding banks of the Popo Agie River lies a sparkling community sitting over five thousand feet above sea level. That community is the City of Lander.

The county seat of Fremont County located in south-central Wyoming, the City of Lander has a long and illustrious history. Originally established to protect the Wind River Indian Reservation, the City of Lander and Fremont County became incorporated in 1884. The community was named after Colonel F.W. Lander, who was exploring the area for a cut-off for the Oregon Trail.

Lander has been a thriving community thanks in large part to its many natural resources it can draw upon. During its early history, minerals such as gold and uranium were discovered, and this mining industry quickly developed the community. The lush forests that characterized the landscape made for a productive timber industry. Today, Lander is fast becoming one of Wyoming's premier tourist destination, and its easy to understand why upon a visit to this gorgeous part of the country.

Lander acts as the gateway community to some of the nation's best landmarks - the Shoshone National Forest, Wind River Mountains, and the Red Desert. Historical attractions in the city include Fremont County Pioneer Museum and the Pioneer Association Museum of the American West.
