In a wonderfully rugged region of middle America there is a place that is known as the “rendezvous” place of Wyoming. Located in the heart of the expansive Wind River Country, the community of Riverton has held a special significance throughout its long history.

Before the arrival of European settlers, Riverton was a special spiritual place revered by the Native Americans, who would come to gather here for meetings, celebrations, and spiritual guidance. Not just a ‘social’ rendezvous place, Riverton is also a ‘geographic’ rendezvous place as the site where of confluence of four rivers including the glorious Wind River. With the arrival of European settlers, Riverton continued to be a rendezvous place for prospectors, homesteaders, and finally businesses. This history and heritage is celebrated annually in the city’s boisterous and fun “Rendezvous Days Festival” every July.

Part of Fremont County, Riverton is home to approximately 10,000 proud citizens. The city’s main industry is tourism Riverton is known world wide for tourism although the city’s manufacturing sector is emerging. The city is served by an excellent school board, and is home to the Central Wyoming College and the Styles School of Cosmetology.

Although Riverton is often used as a stopover for tourists making their way to nearby Yosemite National Park, Riverton has plenty to offer on its own.
