Realtor Beats All-Time Jeopardy Champion

Most of America took interest in the popular quiz show, Jeopardy, over the last few months to watch Ken Jennings accomplish the show's most remarkable feat. Jennings had shattered previous records by remaining undefeated on 75 consecutive shows, the longest winning streak in game show history, and accumulating over $2.5-million in the process. Jennings had simply dominated most of his opponents, often sealing the victory before Final Jeopardy.

That all changed on Jennings 75th show when he was defeated by Nancy Zerg, a realtor with Troop Real Estate in Ventura County, California. Zerg earned the victory in Final Jeopardy as she was trailing Jennings $14,400 to $10,000. The crowd was agasp as Jennings uncharacteristically wrote down the incorrect answer. The question: Which firm has most of its 70,000 seasonal white-collar employees work only four months a year? The answer: "What is H&R Block?"

Zerg, a former actress, had not gone to college for a life of theatre, music and travel. She had gotten into a career in real estate the last few years, the last two with Troop Real Estates. The show had aired on national television earlier last week with many of Zerg's colleagues wathching. Her victory initiated an ecstatic response.

Troop's regional manager in Ventura County, Bob Harrison said several members of their office got together at an agent's home and watched the show. "It was very exciting," Harrison recalled. "I'm very happy for her. She was well deserving. She's just a very well-liked person in the office."
