The Power of Suburban Voters

With the US election over and the Bush candidacy given a second mandate to rule the nation, many people wonder where all of George W’s new support came from? The answer: The suburbs.

An overwhelmingly large amount of suburban voters turned out to vote in this year’s election and many pundits claim that it was their franchise that gave President Bush such a resounding victory.

The rationale for suburban support of the President comes from the overwhelmingly high number of families who live in suburbs. These families naturally felt that safety from terrorism was a substantial issue in this election, and thus voted accordingly. They also believed that family values were paramount to the nation’s strength and thus voted overwhelmingly on ballot initiative banning gay marriage and stem cell research.
